Nitrile coated or disposable nitrile?
Two different things sold under the same word. A nitrile COATED glove has a fabric liner with a nitrile palm, for grip and oil resistance in general handling, and is worn for a shift. A DISPOSABLE nitrile glove is thin, single use, and is about contamination rather than mechanical protection. Check the pack size: coated gloves come in pairs, disposables come in boxes of 50 to 1000 pieces.
Why nitrile rather than latex?
Latex allergy is the main reason, and it is common enough that many sites ban latex outright. Nitrile also resists oils and fuels better, which is why it dominates in automotive and engineering. Latex still grips better when wet, so it holds on in food and cleaning work where allergy is managed.
How do I compare two nitrile gloves?
By the EN 388 marking, in order: abrasion 0 to 4, blade cut 0 to 5, tear 0 to 4, puncture 0 to 4, then a cut letter A to F from the TDM test, then P if impact tested. The letter is the figure to compare, because the older circular blade test understates modern cut resistant yarns.
