What class is a hi vis vest?
A standard waistcoat style vest reaches Class 2 at best, because class is set by how much certified material the garment carries and a vest simply has less fabric. EN ISO 20471 requires 0.50 m² of fluorescent and 0.13 m² of retroreflective for Class 2, and 0.80 m² and 0.20 m² for Class 3. If your site specifies Class 3, a vest alone will not meet it.
Do two-tone vests still certify?
Yes, but only the certified fluorescent sections count towards the class. Two-tone vests put a darker panel where the dirt goes, which keeps them looking serviceable for longer, and that trade is why they sell. Check the class on the product page rather than assuming.
Can vests be printed?
Yes, and it is the most common decorated hi vis item because a vest is cheap enough to replace. Placement is limited: print must not cover the reflective bands or the certified fluorescent area, so most vests take a back panel and a left breast.
