Puma Safety — common questions
Straight answers about what we stock, how it is sold and which standard applies.
What does S3 mean on a Puma Safety boot?
Under EN ISO 20345, S3 is a 200 joule toecap plus a closed heel, antistatic properties, energy absorption at the heel, water resistant uppers and a penetration resistant midsole. It is the specification most UK construction sites ask for.
Are these sports-styled boots still proper safety boots?
Yes. The athletic build makes them lighter and more comfortable to walk in, and the certification is the same EN ISO 20345 as a traditional boot. The trade-off is usually durability on very rough ground rather than protection.
Mid cut or low cut?
This range is mostly mid cut, which supports the ankle and keeps debris out. Low cut safety trainers are in the Safety Trainers section.
