What does EN 343 actually promise?
Rain and breathability, scored separately. Water penetration is Class 1 to 4 and breathability is Class 1 to 4, so a jacket described as 4/4 keeps more water out and lets more sweat through than a 2/2. A jacket with no EN 343 mark is shower resistant at best and should not be the thing you rely on in a downpour.
Softshell or waterproof?
A softshell blocks wind and takes a shower, and it moves better because the fabric stretches. A waterproof has taped seams and a rating to prove it, and it is stiffer and warmer. Crews who are in and out of a van all day tend to want the softshell, and anyone standing in it all day wants the waterproof.
Do you stock hi vis jackets separately?
Yes. Hi Vis Jackets is its own section with bombers, traffic jackets, fleece jackets and breathable ranges, all certified to EN ISO 20471. This section carries both hi vis and plain, so use the Hi Vis section if the certification is the point.
