What do EN 455 and EN 1186 mean on a disposable glove?
EN 455 is the medical examination glove standard and covers freedom from holes and other requirements for clinical use. EN 1186 is food contact approval, meaning the glove is safe against food. A box marked for one is not automatically approved for the other, so check the box against the job.
Nitrile or vinyl?
Nitrile is stronger, resists more chemicals and contains no natural rubber latex, so it is the general purpose choice. Vinyl is cheaper and suits short low risk tasks such as food handling where gloves are changed constantly.
Are these sold by the box or the case?
Both, and the pack size is in the product name. A pack of 100 means one box of 100 gloves, and larger case quantities are listed as such. Prices are ex VAT.
